During my senior year of high school I was assigned with a research project that will
introduce new information topics of science, education, technology, entrainment or etc. I began my research with no proper knowledge of researching for data accurately and asking for advice from experts in the subject of interest. The first research topic I proposed, was created in regard to Andrew Yang’s campaign of universal basic income. I had discussions with my classmates about the possibilities and limit of universal basic income to garner support. To begin my
research I read articles and observed data about European countries that have implemented some standards of universal basic income and with this data or gave insight to compare the pros and cons of universal basic income. Some of the articles I read referred to a universal basic income experiment performed in Finland, this prompted me to contact an economics professor who had taken part in research about universal basic income at a university in Finland. As I waited for a
reply from this professor, I explored other research topics. As a senior, I observed that there was an influx of African American students in the freshman grade in my highschool, which made me take a route in researching education. A majority of the teachers in my high school are white and do not live in similar environments as their students. I also observed that most students in high school were comfortable with teachers that looked like them and always seeked help from them. These observations and questions led to creating a research a A phenomenological study
surrounding the impact of Black Teachers in schools such as the I attended.
